Fashion Editor Assistant for Vogue Korea / GQ Korea
My experience and the lessons learnt whilst working as a fashion editor assistant were incredibly precious and diverse. By directly participating in the publication preparation process of two renowned fashion magazines, GQ Korea and Vogue Korea, I had the unique opportunity to work at the heart of the fashion industry. Deeply involved in the preparation and execution of jewellery and fashion photo shoots, I performed various roles as an editor assistant. This experience provided me with a profound understanding of the complexity and details of fashion photo shoot production.
From the preparation phase to completion, I was responsible for organising and managing the items needed for the photo shoots. During this process, I closely collaborated with models, photographers, stylists, and various fashion brand representatives. I realised that efficient communication and accurate time management were essential for the success of each shoot. This experience equipped me with the ability to meticulously manage time schedules and smoothly communicate with people from various roles.
Moreover, through the production process of fashion photo shoots, I learnt how to overcome challenges and obstacles that can arise whilst transforming creative ideas and visions into reality. I understood that each photo shoot has its unique goals and visions, and realising them requires collaboration from multiple facets. During this process, I developed creative problem-solving skills and a flexible mindset.
These experiences provided me with the various skills and abilities necessary to successfully work in the fashion industry. The role of an editor assistant for a fashion magazine goes beyond merely supporting from behind; I realised it's essential for the success of creative projects. Through this experience, I felt prepared and confident to face greater challenges. The knowledge and skills gained from experiencing various aspects of the fashion industry were an important asset for my career development moving forward.
